New Year--2009

Sure am glad the Christmas season is over...at least the hustle and bustle...

Sue and I have an old friend who was diagnosed in August 08 with brain cancer...after a lengthy battle, she went home to the Lord on Jan. 3, 2009. She was tired. Sue and I helped her daughter, Carolyn take care of her the last few months when she was bedridden.

One day when we were at Carolyn's home, she gave us a book to read while we were there watching over her Mom. It was about death...what to expect, etc. from a Hospice view. It talked about being partially in the earthly world and partially in a spiritual world. How your earthly body reacts when your spiritual body is enteracting with people you know and love who have passed before you.

It talked about how totally immobile people would suddenly become visibly engaged in conversations, physical movements, etc. It also claims that these are just one of the signs to look for approximately 2-3 weeks before death.

There were other signs to look for, but this is the one that really hit me hard. Frances was in an almost comatose state and had been for quite some time...occasionally, we would be able to get her to open her mouth to swallow a pill thru a straw, but nothing more.

We were there this particular day, Frances wasn't moving or talking. Drawing more and more into a permanent fetal position. Her arms, hands drawn up close to her body and twisted and contorted (sp). She suddenly pulled her arms out from under her bed covers, and raised them up into the air as if she was hugging someone. She was talking to whomever she was hugging. At first, she appeared fairly calm, then suddenly she was very aggitated. You could see her chest heaving as she was breathing. Sue and I just watched her the entire time, not saying anything.

This went on for what appeared to be forever, but I know it truly wasn't. But we couldn't take our eyes off of her and her reactions. Now, she is bedridden and totally unable to move or talk, but yet, she was carrying on a very strong conversation with someone.

Then suddenly...she appeared to be hugging this person again...and her breathing once again, calmed down...and then she went back into the fetal position and didn't move anymore, not while we were there.

Long story short...I believed Sue and I both witnessed Frances talking to someone in Heaven. This is just another, "for instance" that totally makes me a believer...and for the life of me...I cannot understand how anyone can not believe in God.

I am so grateful that Frances is now without pain and in Heaven...but there is still an emptiness I'm feeling inside of me. I am so grateful we were given the opportunity to help Frances when she needed us. Thanks God...and please kiss Frances for us...

My Chicken came home!

I'm so happy, my long lost chicken has finally come running home to me. I think someone actually did kidnap him from the looks of this picture, but I sure am glad he's home now!

Yikes...Ike !

Geez...I am ever so glad Ike is gone...but I guess it's really not totally gone. We stayed in Houston for Ike. I remembering during Alicia in 83 being scared...now I know what being petrified feels like...Ike did more than scare me. I'm still hearing those winds and debris hitting the house. There was more than one hit that we just knew the walls were coming in, but they didn't. I opened up my Bible at one point when the scare was about to get the best of me, and opened it up to Psalm 91. Check it out for yourselves...talks about storms and God calming the seas.

We're still recovering from Ike. We had very minimal damage physically to our home, worst was my son-in-law's dad's home in San Leon. His home isn't liveable any longer, so he's staying with my daughter and her hubby for now. And my personal opinion about FEMA...it needs to be disbanded...it's a waste of taxpayers money.

We had to cancel the SU party, preparing for Ike became more important. But I have signed up to be a SU demo. But I guess I'm really cheating, cos I just want the discount when I buy stuff.
I'm still hearing chainsaws in our neighborhood. Seems like that sound isn't going away for quite some time.

Our SS class is going to Sabine Pass this saturday to help clean up debris and take food and supplies to them. They got hit really hard from Ike. I just hope we can help them out some.

More Wild Wild West

More...told u I luv this set...just can't get enough of this set...

Wild Wild West

Some of these cards are made using clear acetate. If you're seeing a printed paper behind the image, it's actually clear acetate behind the image.

Got my scanner up and going again...

Thanks Michael...i couldn't get my new scanning program to upload, so my son had to come and help his old Mommy figure it out...he's such a sweetie...growls like a bear sometimes, but a real sweetheart inside...luv u!

So since it's up and running again, I'll try to post some new card designs. I borrowed a really good old retired Stampin Up set, Wild Wild West from a friend. (thanks Christina!)

I absolutely luv this set, but it's just way too expensive. Maybe Stampin Up will decide to bring it back for awhile... :).

Soooo...let me go upload some Wild Wild West cards.

Later,
Cindy

SU-TIME WELL SPENT

I needed a prototype for my Angel Class for church, so I played with this set. The only difficult part was cutting the curved paper with the SU punch...the yellow is the back of the card...the coral color with the embellishments don't go all the way to the right.

A New Look for My Page !

Whoo-hoo...thanks darling daughter...you did a fantastic job! My baby set up this blog for me and now she's getting it all decorated up and looking nice for me...I think she did a really good job, don't you !

I'm having a small group of friends coming over to make a greeting card holder/folder and I'm trying to come up with some kind of easy designs/etc for them to use on the front and insides of the folder. So I'm going through some stamps right now searching. And in September our Angels group is gearing up again to keep up with our church's BD/Anniversary/Get Well needs. We were all so busy during the summer, we took some time off, but now it's time to get going again.

Wish me luck and hope my brain doesn't get stumped again!
